Registration & Fees
The GoDance Ballroom Challenge has been postposed due to COVID-19 and will be rescheduled for a future date. A new registration deadline will be assigned when a new event date has been announced. Registration forms can be found on the competitor registration page. Forms should be printed, filled out, and e-mailed to godancechallenge@gmail.com. When a new registration date has been announced, forms received after that date will be accepted at the discretion of the competition organizer if the entries do not create additional heats. Studios or groups will be charged a $50 late fee per competitor for any registration forms accepted after the deadline.

Couples may register as pro/am or am/am and may be same-sex couples as long as one person is designated as the leader and the other as the follower.

Professional competitors are restricted to four entries per dance level and style. For example, a professional competitor may enter Newcomer Bronze Waltz up to four times among all of the amateur competitors they are registered to compete with. Amateur competitors are restricted to three consecutive dance levels. For example, an amateur competitor may dance in Newcomer Bronze, Bronze I, and Bronze II.

Professional and amateur competitors have no restrictions on the number of solo or formation exhibitions they can register for. Showcase solo and formation exhibition routines are restricted to three minutes in length. Showcase tracks must be submitted no later than Friday, June 26, 2020 via a link provided by the competition organizers.

No fees should be sent with registration forms. Studios or groups will receive an e-mail with a confirmation of all entries received and an invoice for fees due. Fees can be paid via credit card or by check. Checks should be sent to 4015 University Drive, Suite K, Durham, NC 27707. Checks should be made out to GoDance Vacations. A new payment deadline will be announced when a new event date is shared.

Changes or deletions of accepted and confirmed dance entries included in the e-mail being sent can be made through the deadline shared in the e-mail. Only deletions will be accepted after that deadline.

A finalized heat list will be posted to this website one week before the event date.

Open vs. Closed, Syllabus, and Dance Levels
Competitors may enter in the open and closed competition. Closed competition is restricted to the commonly accepted syllabus figures for that level. We understand that different studios use different syllabi, including Arthur Murray, DVIDA, and NDCA, so competitors should use the figures outlined in their syllabus. Open competition may use choreography in addition to syllabus figures. Bronze closed competitors may not use continuity footwork.

Newcomer Bronze is restricted to competitors who have had less than 60 lessons or have been taking lessons for less than six months, whichever occurs first. Newcomer Silver and Newcomer Gold are for competitors who have just branched into those medals, but there are no restrictions to determine who may compete on those levels. As a courtesy to all those competing, competitors are ask to not dance down any levels in an effort to encourage fair competition.
